Turku – Finland

I had the chance to visit Turku, Finland’s oldest city, and it turned out to be a quiet but fascinating stop. Set along the Aura River, the city has a relaxed, walkable feel with plenty of character tucked into its historic streets and waterfront paths. I spent time wandering between old warehouses turned into cafés and galleries, and enjoyed the calm rhythm of daily life by the river. The food scene was a pleasant surprise—simple, seasonal dishes done really well, with a strong focus on local ingredients. From traditional Finnish meals to more modern takes in small bistros, everything felt fresh and thoughtfully made. The city has a subtle charm—it’s not trying to be flashy, but it leaves you with the sense that you’ve seen a place that values its history, its creativity, and its own quiet pace. Turku might not top every travel list, but I’m glad I made the trip.
